RoDTEP Scheme – A Snapshot

After the USA challenged the validity of various export incentives and schemes offered by India at the World Trade Organisation forum, the Government decided to appeal against the ruling. However, at the same time they decide to discontinue the Merchandise Exports from India Scheme (MEIS) that had been prescribed under the Indian Foreign Trade Policy. In September of 2019, the Finance Minister announced that RoDTEP would replace MEIS ensuring that benefits similar to MEIS would still be available.

This article outlines the key aspects of the RoDTEP scheme as well as the procedure for filing the claim. Sundeep Gupta and Jayashree SK also share their views on the matter and ways in which exporters can work on their plans for the future keeping this new scheme under consideration.
